I am 25 yrs old and 5wks pregnant I want to keep the child it would be my first one. 1wk and half ago I was laid off my job. Im signed up for school all this happened before I knew about being pregnant. I will get unemployment it kicks in next mth. Im really just looking for housing I currently live with my dad he will not allow me to live here pregnant but I do want to keep my child. Im also seeking part-time work. I currently live in Atlanta but I am interested in relocating to Tallahassee, Fl I want to be a Forensic scientist or Crime scene investigator Atlanta doesnt offer either program as a degree program. I do have a plan I just need housing asap. Im very bright, adjusting and finding a job wont be a problem. I do have some income but because I have a carnote Im limited to how much I can pay on bills. So housing and finding a job are my two top priorities. Thanks

well let me ask do you have a property already or are you going to be getting a property financed to create this facility? If so, there may be some financing options that I can refer you to , to get the extra cash needed to start up a transitional housing unit and I work with a great non for profit organization that does this very thing for private investors properties. Volunteers open their homes to children whose parents are experiencing a short-term emergency, such as hospitalization, or a longer-term crisis, such as drug abuse. Designed to extend and strengthen the community safety net for at-risk families, Safe Families is a positive alternative to the state child welfare system, allowing parents to work out their problems without having to worry about losing custody of their kids. The program's goal is to reunite children with their biological parent(s) in a home that is more stable and healthy, in part because of the contribution of the Safe Families intervention.

Parents experiencing a temporary crisis can arrange for their children (newborn through 16 years old) to stay with Safe Families volunteers while they address the issues that led to the instability in their lives. Children are matched with families in their own community whenever possible, and placements average from one day to three months. During that time, Safe Families caseworkers are available to provide volunteers with support and answer any questions they might have.

I agree with Russ and ekikaseven - get the child support you obviously need-  while you are at it get a cost of living adjustment as well as medical coverage - if he can help make them, he can help support them. Do not be fooled into thinking you can do it alone - YOU CAN'T I am not saying this to insult you, I am telling you this as a fact. It is impossible to raise kids on 1 income. Also get down to social services and apply - TODAY! Screw your pride and get the assistance your children need. You cannot do it all - NO ONE CAN.

Where's their father - get the courts involved now -it's tax time so go get it!

Where are the father(s)?  Are you receiving child support from them?

If not get help from the courts to get it from them.

I'm a mother of three wonderful girls',living in Atlanta Ga. I'm currently working two jobs and having to raise these three kids by myself with no man around to help me out. At times I tell you, it gets really tough and hard with no food and money to help support us. I KNOW AS A MOTHER, I have done all I can do to provide for my kids but in the current suitation my family will be forced to move into a shelter or out in the street. Please I'm asking for your help to help keep my family together,with a child that is barely 2yrs not knowing how to feed her it's a pain noone or a mother should ever had to go through in life.

Having utilities in the house cut off one-by-one and having to struggle and pay one at a time is a disgrace to me and me as a mother, at times I get so scared that I don't know which one of them will go off next. I just need help from you,pleaseeeeeeeeee help me. I don't want to loose my kids or my house due to foreclosure or to the system because I was not taking care of them,I know as of next month we will be in the street but God knows I've done my best to provide for my babies.

Having no health insurance  and enough money to pay for one it's hard,knowing fully well that if any of my kids get sick I'm totally out of luck. I will have to watch my baby die due to no insurance.  I'm a single mother of three,I don't drink or smoke,should I have to be in this pain and struggles at this time of my life. I think the best place to start would be with organizations that already exist. Talk to them, ask them how they got started, get information from the source.

here's a thought: why not combine your efforts and work together to start a new home?

Hi, I am a single mother, or 3 young children.  I work at a fast food restaurant to pay my bills and take care of my children.  My rent is 1,000 a month which I am unable to pay!! Someone close to the family helped me get into this house and agreed to help me pay part of the rent.  Well they are now having to have back surgery and the help they were going to be able to offer is now not able to happen.. I am looking for a cheaper place, but in the mean time for the month, I am very behind on my rent and bills.  I desperately need help paying it until I can get moved into somewhere cheaper.  The whole reason I even agreed to move into such an expensive home was because of the room it has. But now I realized I just won't be able to afford it.  Thank you for your help and concerns...

Please Help!!! We have no gas .My husband was laid off 1 1/2 months ago, we're broke and they cut off the gas friday.We need some help.I found a part-time job that pays minimum wage but the money is not even enough to meet my food amount every month,let alone pay the rent we are seriously behind(almost 2 month behind on rent) and we have no family that is able to help us. We have three children and I just don't want to have to raise them in a shelter. I am a 50 years old lady who is going thru some hard times. My husband was diagnosed with cancer (limphoma) in 2005 . Since than he is in treatments and in and out of the Hospital.Because he was self employesd at that time and he is 52 years old he can't get medicare.In the meantime we got audited by IRS and we have to pay back taxes for the last 7 years about $12,000.00 . I'm looking for information and how to obtain grant money on starting Transitional Housing for single women in Atlanta, Georgia.

I found myself in this hopeless situation, and know the stress that it can place on a person.  I found it very hard to get any help or aid when you are out of work and you don't have any children, not disabilble, or over age 65. I did not have any family to turn to and very few friend to give me a helping hand.

I want to give back now that my life is alot better.  So I want to start a Transitional House for single women to help them get back on their feet....

I would appreciate any information on how I can go about doing this...
